When your pet is ill or injured, it can be a very stressful time for both you and your pet. At PawSteps Veterinary Center, we are equipped to perform many diagnostic tests to determine the cause of your pet’s signs, often without the need to be referred to a specialist or needing to wait for results from a referral laboratory.
We perform a full range of blood tests, urinalysis and cytology in our in-house laboratory, allowing us to obtain fast and accurate results, including complete blood count (provides information about red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets), blood serum chemistry (a chemical analysis of substances in the serum including proteins, enzymes, sugars, minerals, electrolytes, and cholesterol), thyroid testing, SNAP testing for heartworm, tick-borne diseases (Lyme disease, Ehrlichia, and Anaplasma), feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), and feline leukemia virus (FELV). With an increase in the number of Lyme disease cases in Worcester County, quick and accurate testing for Lyme disease is important – the quicker we know your pet has Lyme disease, the sooner we can begin treatment. For more complex testing, we will send samples to an outside referral laboratory for veterinary specialists to review.
